I am sorry I quit blogging. I guess I have been having too much fun relaxing.

I am starting to feel a little pressure about my supposed work here though, so I am going to get right on that. My first angle, which I suppose I trusted would last me to the end got a little shattered at my first interviews yesterday. That is supposed to happen a lot but I get a little over positive sometimes.

Here are some pictures of my mom's 60th and my trip to Regina, which I luckily recruited Catherine and Nathalie for. It made it a lot more interesting!

I'm home and the jet lag is finally better today. It's supposed to be not so rough coming this way but Luke and I have been really tired.

I went to 5 a 7 this Friday and three people that I wanted to do interviews with for my project just happened to be there. Two of them were sitting beside each other. Very handy.

It has been really fun catching up with people but there are still lots of folks I want to see...

I am so lethargic and don't want to write anymore.

Hey Buddies,

Luke and I are stuck in Toronto cause Air Canada didn't give us enough time to change planes and wont pay for our hotel room. We seriously ran from the plane to get our connecting one and missed it by 4 minutes! We are sad. But we will be home tomorrow.

See y'all soon, enough.

Hello Buddies,

We are in Heathrow and managed to get on the same flight. I got my laptop connected to the internet here so here is a beautiful photobooth photo of us!

See y'all soon!

Scaring Luke: a photo exhibition

I am at school working on an article.

I went to see my prof yesterday to look over my work so far and he says my writing has improved a lot this year. I think it has too.

I was looking at some of my articles from the beginning of the year this morning as I was trying to sort through the piles of paper in my office. As I was reading over old articles, I saw tons of things I would have done differently. I guess that's what this was all about: improving and learning to be critical.

I still have a long way to go but I am happy progress has been made.
I saw an ad on saskjobs.ca for a television reporter in Swift Current. They needed people right away, so I didn’t apply. It was just nice to see opportunities at home.

One of the articles I am writing right now is about the provincial nominee programme and the labour shortage in Saskatchewan. I called the department of Employment and Learning to see if there was anyone who would want to talk to me.

They had me on speaker phone right away and everyone in the office was pitching in trying to answer my questions. It was hard to keep people straight for the interview but it was so great that they were so helpful. It seems when I try to interview people here I often get the royal run around and the “we’ll get back to you in 2 years”.

They also helped me set up an interview for my francophone immigration documentary and Pat Atkinson’s office called my house the other day and agreed to an interview. I am feeling good about how it is coming together so far.

I have felt the desperation of Saskatchewan trying to attract people to the province though. Maybe that’s why everyone is being so nice. Whenever I talk to someone in some official role they are very anxious to know when I intend on moving back to the province.

I got up and was trying to rush Luke off to work for no reason at all. I thought he was running late and forgot to wake me up before he went, but he informed me there was still five minutes till he had to go meet his ride on the corner. I also got mad because he didn't wash his cereal bowl.It was really an over reaction to a little thing. Like, who really gives a shit? I am the biggest nag ever sometimes. He is very, very patient with me. It's really quite remarkable.

Our classes are pretty much over but everyone is still at school trying to get their work done. I am really stressed about getting these articles done and I have absolutely no clue if I am ready to start interviewing people for my documentary. Oh well, what harm is there is asking a question or two that has no relation?

I also have no clue what I need to do to get ready to go home.

I was walking out the door to go to aerobics tonight and there was a guy gasping for air in front of my house and a woman that was with him yelled at me to call 999. I called and they asked me a series of questions about him, which I could not answer. He got better while I was on the phone with them and the lady told me to cancel it but we couldn't. I guess he has had a chest infection for a while and had a few attacks like this today. He sounded horrible. My flatmate, Binny, was looking after him so I excused myself and went to aerobics. There didn't seem to be much more I could do.

Tonight I dropped my cell phone in the toilet. Luckily before I weed. It still seems to be working.

Chris told me I should blog when I was talking to him on msn yesterday, but I didn't feel like it. I do today!

Well, we are coming home very soon and it hasn't really sunk in. I think it was such a shorter leg than last time, so I haven't missed home as much. It was also a much more challenging semester.

We did our final project this past week at school and it was very, very difficult. I was partnered up with a guy who is virtually never at school. I ended up doing both the tv and radio story almost entirely on my own. They turned out pretty good but it was a lot more work than it should have been. Our final 20 minute programme for radio went off without a hitch but our television programme was a disaster. Luckily, it is is only 10% of our final mark. I learned that team work can be very challenging.

We had a kind of crazy week at home as well. We were broken into last sunday night because one of my housemates left the back door unlocked. It is scary to think of someone in the house while we were sleeping. They got off with a laptop and about £8 from my wallet. I had borrowed a £3000 camera from the school and they didn't take it!

A few nights later I was talking on the phone with my mom when we heard screaming and banging outside. They were having a house party in the back garden a few doors down and robbers walked right into their front door and took 3 laptops. The guys at the party noticed and chased them down the street and surrounded their getaway car. Unfortunately, they managed to drive off. It's pretty gutsy to break into a place at 9:45 pm while there is a party in the house.

Anyway, I am sleeping with the lamp on. Not that I didn't before anyway.
I am a bit afraid of the dark, but don't tell anyone.

Only two more articles to write and semester 2 is done. Now for the fun stuff! My radio documentary. I am not looking forward to going home as much as I would if I didn't have so much work to do when I got there.

Kim's activity club sounds awesome! It makes me want to be in Saskatoon forever!
